Mr. Kearney holds court at Leopardstown

Colleen and I brought a new “research” team with us to Leopardstown for this year’s”Christmas Festival”.  The track management and staff could not have been more accommodating and hospitable.  The only thing they didn’t do was let us win more than we did.

My good friend Mr. Kearney consulted with Colleen  on several races and the last race of the day contributed greatly to her previous winnings. Tom Deering did OK, Alan Deering, Aideen Roche (of RTE fame) and yours truly not so good.

The following letter, a PRESS pass, and Mr. Kearney allowed our “research team” free reign of the track…and we sincerely thank them all … especially  Mr.Kearney.

The man himself “Mr. Kearney”

Because we are in the “development” stages, I have deleted the names of our major sponsors but the letter will give you a fair idea of what we were up too.

Re:  Leopardstown Christmas Festival

Dear Sir/Madam:

XXXX is a non-commercial education public television station located in Boston, Massachusetts, USA and is a member station of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).

We, in collaboration with XXXXXXXX, are in the development stages of a program devoted to horse racing in Ireland. I respectfully request that the Leopardstown Racecourse extend PRESS privileges to Daniel Carney and his party.

I thank you for this consideration.

Vice President of Programming

The “Research Team” testing hot whiskeys…it took them several more to offer an opinion

A Blog about Leopardstown wouldn’t be the same if I didn’t comment on the driver of the day.  Last year David “Mario Andrette” Quigley drove and this year  Alan “Am I going to fast” Deering.  Some of the roads David and Alan took are no wider than American driveways … the speeds … oh I would say up to 60-70MPH…curves in these roads… well lets say more than Gisele Bundchen has.  Though a bit fast,  I must add both are extremely careful and superb drivers and I thank them both.

After Colleen collected her winnings from the last race and just  as we were leaving Mr. Kearney gave me a silver box with the following in it.

Thank you and see you next year.

Home we go to meet up with…

Lorcan Mac An TSionnaigh

…. dinner at the house and Col and Lorcan off to Osbornes … for ……. a few

… and Oscar winner, singer songwriter Glen Hansard in attendance … apparently the craic was outstanding.

I would be gratefull to those who believe … to say a prayer for my cousin’s recovery
